March Catch-Up

I took an unplanned break from blogging this month.  The irony is, when you have the most to write about, you also have the least amount of time to write about it!

The month kicked off with an intensive weekend plastering course, spanning over two full weekends.  It was a fab experience and I will be writing up about this soon.

We then launched into a full on garage roof attack, where we replaced the garage roof finally. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be, but it was physically demanding, and this work spanned the following two weekends.  I'm so glad it's done now though, and with Storm Katie riding over us at the minute, I can finally confirm the garage is watertight - yay!

The next project which is sucking all my arm strength is the living room.  The wallpaper stripping has begun and it's a b***h! I have never encountered wallpaper that has proved so difficult to remove.  It's two layer of wallpaper, and you just can't get a good run on it, it just comes off in pathetic little bits.  To date it has taken probably two whole days of two people working and we are halfway through the room (and it's not a big room!).  At least I know this is the very last of the wallpaper in this house so I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm currently sat in the sofa on this very miserable Easter Monday morning, wrestling with the Wickes website trying to order some supplies (15% off everything!), but it seems like everyone else has realised what a super deal this is and the website just can't cope. Grrr!

I hope you have had a lovely easter weekend.

  1. Looking forward to reading your house-y updates! I was literally just showing my OH your Instagram photos of the plastering course at Trade Ability. We actually booked him in for a course which starts tomorrow... So wanted to say thank you so much for letting us know about it!! Such a bargain price and your photos definitely convinced me we should go for it too! I'm slightly gutted I won't actually be doing it as well, but it only made sense for one of us to go... And he really wanted to go for it! Hoping he'll boss it and save us heaps of money in the long run ;) Can't wait to see your living room renovations unfold, you can finally put your new plastering skills to the test!

Hope you've had a lovely Easter too :) xx

    1. I hope your OH has a great week this week - expect him to be very tired by the end of the week though! I'm sure he will be able to teach you what he has learnt so you will both be able to do it - it's great that you are both keen :)

I'm actually going to do the box room first as a practice - as guests hardly ever go there! Once I've mastered that, the aim is to bosh the living room - by then we might have finally finished stripping the wallpaper in there!
